The Loic Remy to the English Premier League saga has taken another twist, with the Marseille forward reportedly set to undergo a medical at Loftus Road after deciding to reject a move to Newcastle and join Queens Park Rangers.
Both clubs are currently precariously placed in the table, although QPR are much worse off, rooted to the bottom.
Newcastle had agreed a fee, worth around £8.3 million ($13.3 million), with Marseille, with the French club giving the Magpies permission to talk to Remy over personal terms.
Remy was thought to prefer a move to St James' Park, with Harry Redknapp earlier saying he had lost out on trying to persuade the striker to come to QPR, as the French international did not even want to talk to him.
"I went over last week to watch him, not that I needed to, as I watched him seven times when I was at Spurs," Redeknapp said. "Then he just did not want to speak about coming. I couldn't even get a meeting with him.
"I was hoping for a meeting with him to encourage him to come. I think he felt embarrassed coming to see me to say he wasn't interested in coming to QPR."
However, now it looks like Remy could be on his way to QPR, according to Sky Sports, with the 26-year-old negotiating personal terms before undergoing a medical.
Marseille sporting director Jose Anigo also admitted there were several English clubs talking to Remy, and the move to Newcastle was not so cut and dry.
"We at OM reached an agreement with Newcastle, but we also talked with other English clubs," he told RTL.
"We gave them a working basis and it remains up to Loic to choose the club he prefers in terms of their structure or sporting plans.
"He is currently in England and is speaking with some clubs. Everyone talks about Newcastle, but it is not just Newcastle because he is talking with other clubs.
"We have to remain cautious. We have done our job and players and agents must do theirs. Nothing is done.
"QPR have deep pockets and a manager known in England to have a good reputation, so I do not think Loic has closed the door on QPR."
If Alan Pardew were to lose out on Remy, it would come as a huge blow to Newcastle, with the manager making the Frenchman his primary target as a replacement for Demba Ba, who signed for Chelsea.
