The Men's Singles tournament rolls along at the Australian Open and the No. 1 ranked player takes center stage. Novak Djokovic takes on Tomas Berdych as two of the Top 10 men in the sport go head to head in the quarterfinals.
Djokovic is fresh off one of the best matches of the entire year. Well, there haven' been many tennis games played since the season is brand new, but at the end of the year, this will probably remain up there as one of the best matches.
Djokovic defeated Stanislas Wawrinka in five sets winning three out of the last four as fell behind. The finishing numbers were the following: 1-6, 7-5, 6-4, 6(5)-7(7), 12-10. Look at those scores. After the set, it always went down to the wire. Without a doubt, the top ranked player in the game was put to work.
Wawrinka is probably learning a thing or two from playing in Men's Doubles with Roger Federer.
Djokovic's opponent is Berdych, the No. 5 ranked in Men's Singles. He's making it a costume to advance into the quarterfinals at the Australian Open. This is his third consecutive quarterfinal appearance in this grand slam tourney.
Berdych was a Wimbledon runner-up in 2010 making it his most successful grand slam tournament. He has never won a grand slam title in his career and will be facing Djokovic, who has won the Australian Open in consecutive years.
