New York Mets Rumors: Michael Bourn Makes More Sense In Seattle with Mariners

The New York Mets need an outfielder and Michael Bourn is available. However, with their plans for the future, it would be wiser to take the losing season without wasting money and letting the Seattle Mariners make the bid for the outfielder.

As of right now, though they are playing in a tough division, the Mariners are in better shape to compete. If compete is not the right word, then they at least have more chances of stopping teams from winning and spoiling their playoff hopes as the season winds down.

The Mariners have done some heavy shopping this offseason while the Mets have been releasing players. The Mariners have a potent middle of the lineup after acquiring both Kendrys Morales and Michael Morse.

Adding these two guys gives the Mariners power and a little more respect in their lineup filled with young guys. With Bourn at the top of the order, their offense would be pretty fun to watch. We can't jump the gun and use the word successful because the team is still going to lose games as they possess no pitching.

The Mets have now rid themselves of Omar Minaya's contracts and players. Adding a guy like Bourn to their roster would be great because it will give fans a reason to show up at Citi Field. However, adding Bourn to the payroll will bring back the evil that cursed the Mets in the mid-00's.

He's a Scott Boras client and any team rebuilding should see this as a warning sign and settle with what they already possess.

The Mets have great talent brewing in their minor league system. Travis d'Arnaud is a catcher they will eventually call up and they have Noah Syndergaard a pitching prospect who has dominated at Single-A. Both of these guys are products of the R.A. Dickey trade.

Zach Wheeler is down in the minors getting ready to eventually come up.

The Mets could use Bourn's talents, but right now their best hope is to win as many games as they can and fight with the Marlins for fourth place in the N.L. East.
