Tiger Woods Dominates at Torrey Pines Yet Again for Record Win

Tiger Woods likes the look of Torrey Pines very much. The former world number one built a huge lead going into the final round, and despite a few hiccups in his anxiousness to finish the tournament, Woods cruised to a four-shot win for his eighth victory at the course.

His 75th PGA Tour victory was the seventh in the Farmers Insurance Open and eighth overall at Torrey Pines, which includes the 2008 U.S. Open. Woods is now just seven tournament wins behind all-time PGA Tour record holder Sam Snead.

"I'm excited the way I played all week," Woods said. "I hit the ball well -- pretty much did everything well and built myself a nice little cushion.

"I had some mistakes at the end, but all my good play before that allowed me to afford those mistakes."

Woods did not have a great beginning to 2013, missing the cut at Abu Dhabi along with current world No. 1 Rory McIlroy.

However, this week fans saw vintage Woods in action, as he played some brilliant golf to blow away the competition.

The 37-year-old was leading by a massive eight shots with five holes to play, and despite making a bogey and a double bogey, he still managed a four-shot win to end the tournament on 274 after an even par final round.

"I played really well," Woods added. "Through 13 today (Monday) and build myself a nice little lead, made a few mistakes coming home but I had a big enough cush that it was fine.

"I had an eight-shot lead. "So just needed to stay upright and I was going to be fine."

Brandt Snedeker tied for second place with Josh Teater at 278, while Jimmy Walker and Nick Watney were fourth, a further shot behind.

"I don't know if anybody would have beaten him this week," Watney said. "He's definitely on his game."

"I think he wanted to send a message," Hunter Mahan added. "I think deep down he did. You play some games to try to motivate yourself. There's been so much talk about Rory. Rory is now with Nike. That would be my guess."
