Deion Sanders, the NFL Hall of Famer, was recently covering the Super Bowl, but now he wishes he would physically cover up his daughter, Deiondra Sanders, as she decided to join the Bikini Basketball League.
At first, Deion wasn't too fond of the idea of having his daughter join the league filled with former WNBA stars who don't really play in bathing suits.
"My dad was kind of upset, but that's like any parent who just sees bikini league," Deiondra told Jeff Sammut of 590 The Fan in Toronto. "He thought I was gonna be out there in a bikini. He saw a picture of our uniform and stuff like that, so I think once he saw that we're actually covered up a little bit, he wasn't as concerned."
Once the NFL's bad boy and flashy athlete known as Primetime, Deion will have to sit back and watch his daughter gain publicity as she will play for the Atlanta Peaches.
Despite some people taking the BBL as a joke, Deiondra was more willing to join the league over the Lingerie Football League because the BBL features real former talent from the WNBA.
"I just think that it's a lot different because we actually do have players, real basketball players, that actually have played in the WNBA before," Sanders said. "So I think that this will make a difference because people are really gonna see real-life hoopers. They just look good while doing it."
Deiondra is already capturing headlines and is currently more popular than her father who was busy in the Super Dome getting "backstage" comments from players before they even hit their podium at Media Day on Tuesday in New Orleans. Deion got to chat with the popular Colin Kaepernick who shared his thoughts on teammates and said he was not nervous for Sunday's Super Bowl game. He chatted with Ray Lewis, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh, joked around with Ed Reed and Michael Crabtree and interrupted a very serious Randy Moss who claimed he is the best receiver to play the game.
