PlayStation 4 Announcement From Sony Coming Soon, Company Hasn't Released New Console Since PS3 Six Years Ago

The PlayStation 4 is set to be Sony's next big product and the company is preparing to make an announcement very soon.

According to Entertainment Weekly, journalist received a an invitation from Sony to a press event on February 20th and now there is a video on the website playstationmeeting.com, that shows some interesting graphics and the four well-known PlayStation picture logos before throwing up the actual PS logo. At the end, the words "Be the first to know."

There are no other details yet, but since it has been six years since the release of PlayStation 3, it isn't hard to fathom that the company is about to drop something big.

Both their competitors have new consoles, with Nintendo and the Wii U and Microsoft with the next version of Xbox expected to be announced soon.

The PlayStation 2 was one of the most popular and "game" changing devices of the past 20 years, but Sony has taken a hit in the video game market over the past few years. The system has many games that were well received, including God of War, Uncharted and Grand Theft Auto, but sales have been slipping.

Online services as well as phones and other social media products have cut in on video game sales. Sony is hoping to change that with the new announcement.
