Joakim Noah missed Friday's game against the Brooklyn Nets with an injury to his right foot. Noah has been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis, something he has dealt with for extended periods of time in the past. His return to the lineup is now questionable.
"Plantar Fasciitis is kind of coming back, so I have issues with my foot. It's frustrating, but I'm hoping that with a little bit of rest I'll be all right," Noah said.
Plantar Fasciitis is nothing new for the Bulls' center. He had the same injury flair up in his left foot three years ago and knows that it can linger around for awhile. Noah started to feel symptoms of the injury about 10 days ago and that influenced his decision to sit out Friday's game. He believes because he is acting on the injury sooner than last time, that should help speed up the recovery process.
Noah has only missed one game this season prior to Friday. He is one of the Bulls' most consistant players, averaging 12.1 points, 11.3 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. He normally plays around 38 minutes per game which is higher than last season's average. He was selected as a reserve for this year's NBA All-Star Game.
Losing Noah for an extended period of time could do some hard to the Bulls. At this point in the season, the team is getting hit hard with inuries. Star Derrick Rose is still out with an ACL injury, Kirk Hinrich is out with a right elbow injury and Carlos Boozer sat out Friday's game with an injured hamstring that occured in Monday night's game against Charlotte. The Bulls are currently third in the Eastern Conference standing with games against Atlanta, Indiana and Boston all coming up.
Noah told media after Friday's game that he is trying to be smart about the injury, but that it has been getting worse and worse over the last few days. The Bulls' have handled injuries well in the past and are confident they can fill the void while Noah is out.
