Valentine's Day is around the corner and, believe it or not, relationships and sports have a few similarities. There's drama, couples consider themselves a team and some relationships have a sort of Cinderella feel to it. Well, if you're looking for the right gift for your significant other who's a sports fanatic, how about just getting them tickets to a sporting event? Check out the schedule for active sports on Feb. 14.
Only the NBA and NHL are active right now. Baseball isn't in yet, so all that's available is access to spring training, but that won't be too exciting.
Here's the NBA schedule for Feb. 14 aka Valentine's Day. Because it's All-Star game weekend, the schedule is a bit short.
Feb. 14- Miami Heat vs. Oklahoma City Thunder 8 p.m. ET
A rematch of the NBA Championship. He will definitely thank you for the rest of the year. Don't be discouraged, though this game is only a few days away, tickets should be available.
Los Angeles Lakers vs. Los Angeles Clippers 10:30 p.m. ET
For those in L.A., they will be treated to a great matchup. Hopefully, for the Clippers at least, their point guard and possibly the MVP of the 2012-2013 season, Chris Paul, will be back in action. This matchup highlights some of the best talent in the league. Aside from Paul, there's Blake Griffin, Steve Nash and of course, Kobe Bryant in action.
You can check out tickets at Stubhub.com
If you can't go to the game because you're not in L.A. or Oklahoma, watch the game at a bar after dinner.
The NBA brought a lot of magic to fans all around the world in 2012. Well, specifically, Jeremy Lin. The bars were going absolutely nuts in New York as Lin hit the game winner against the Toronto Raptors. It was a magical Valentine's Day for New Yorkers and Lin, who was making his way into the hearts of millions.
Who wouldn't want to be in this kind of environment? It's like New Years on Valentine's Day.
If you really want to surprise that special someone who's an NBA fan, that Sunday in Houston, it's the All-Star game. Make believe you forgot it was Valentine's Day and then pop out with tickets to the game. Of course, that'll only work if your significant other is a basketball fan.
Over to the NHL, there schedule will be a little more interesting as they feature conference matches and divisional matches that'll sure have people amped for the game. Check out the NHL schedule on Valentine's Day.
New York Rangers vs. New York Islanders 7 p.m. ET
Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Carolina Hurricanes 7 p.m. ET
Washington Capitals vs. Tampa Bay Lightning 7:30 p.m. ET
Montreal Canadiens vs. Florida Panthers 7:30 p.m. ET
Phoenix Coyotes vs. Nashville Predators 8 p.m. ET
Colorado Avalanche vs. Minnesota Wild 8 p.m. ET
Don't be scared to show your pride. If your team is on the road go all out and wear your jerseys to the game even if your team is on the road. So the teams on the right are the ones at home. Avalanche fans, if you're in Minnesota on Valentine's Day, buy those tickets and show your team some love.
If hanging out on Thursdays is not your thing, check out the schedule for Friday and the weekend.
