With the NBA trade deadline coming this month, teams around the league have begun their scramble to find potential deals that can be made, leading to a flurry of trade rumors being spoken throughout the league.
One surprising name rumored to be in trade talks is New York Knicks' guard Iman Shumpert. And although he missed most of the season due to a knee injury, he's already in high demand around teams across the league.
According to Yahoo!'s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Phoenix Suns are pursuing a possible trade with the Knicks:
As the Phoenix Suns try to reshuffle their roster for the future, their front office remains motivated to try to acquire New York Knicks guard Iman Shumpert, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
The Suns are willing to give the Knicks a package deal that includes forward Jared Dudley and possibly a future first-round pick for Shumpert.
Dudley has three years and $12.8 million left on his contract, and has been available in trade talks, league sources said. He's averaging 11.8 points and 3.6 rebounds this season. Phoenix has also tried to move backup point guard Sebastian Telfair for a second-round pick, sources said.
Since his return, Shumpert has started in all 11 games for the Knicks, but the team has a lot of depth in the backcourt. While Shumpert is still working himself back to the high level with which he performed as a rookie, the Knicks' front office remains a strong proponent of his talent, sources said.
However, Wojnarowski reports that New York is still unwilling to make any deal as of now.
