The most anticipated match of the days Champions League competition will feature Manchester United on the road to take on Real Madrid Wednesday at 3:35 pm ET.

This game will feature the two powerhouses in Europe meeting early in the tournament. The two will play the first leg of the last 16 round at Santiago Bernabau on Wednesday.

Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson said of the match:

""It is unfortunate that we are meeting as early as this. I wish it had been at Wembley [in the final in May]." Ferguson also alluded to the fact that his game plan is to set them up for success in the second leg of the round, which will take place at Old Trafford in three weeks. He referred to this game as "the acid test," for the next leg.

The game will also feature Real superstar Cristiano Ronaldo taking on United for the first time since leaving in 2009. Ronaldo made 292 appearances for United between 2003 and 2009, scoring 118 goals.

Ronaldo said of his time at Manchester United:

 "It was a fantastic part of my life there. Maybe it was the time I enjoyed my football the most. It was a dream."

Real Madrid has won five of its last six matches at the Santiago Bernabeu and is unbeaten in its last 33 home matches in all competitions. The Spanish champion has won three of its eight previous meetings with Manchester United in European competition.
