The Rangers and Bruins split the first two meetings of the shortened NHL season. Boston took the first matchup in the season opener 3-1. Four days later, the Rangers answered back and took the second game of the series in overtime 4-3.
The Rangers come into this matchup red hot. They are 3-1-0 in the month of February suffering their only loss to the New Jersey Devils. They recently defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning in a 5-1 blowout. In the match before they also held their city rival, New York Islanders to a goal beating them up 4-1.
As for the Bruins, they are holding on to first place in the Central Division. In 10 games this season they have only lost one game in regulation posting an 8-1-1 record through the beginning stages of the season.
Though the Rangers are winners of three of four games, the Bruins have won three consecutive games and look to continue their early season dominance in the league.
The Rangers could use a victory as they sit on a 6-5 record good enough for only third place in the Atlantic Division. They are trailing the first place Devils and second place Pittsburgh Penguins in the standings.
