The Minnesota Vikings have one of the most classic logos in football, but as of Thursday the team will have a more updated and "enhanced" Norseman gracing their jerseys, helmets and field.
According to the team's official website, the Vikings logo has been enhanced and "evolved" to a new modern look that includes some brighter colors as well as a more fierce and sleeker looking Viking with a shorter braid and more defined facial hair.
The Vikings website lists five changes to the logo, including a shading change to the horn shape and thicker lined of detail on the face in the moustache and lower head area. The changes also include to the horn base which now looks more like the one on the player's helmets. The last two changed include a brighter gold in the logo as well as a shortened braid to make the logo smaller overall.
The Vikings explained the reason for the change is due to plans for a new stadium, which will use the new logo all over. The team said that merchandise including hats and jerseys with the updated logo will be coming out sometime in March.
The team has used the Norseman as the logo for the franchise since 1961 and said they are committed to keeping it. The updated look brings the Vikings into a new era and a new stadium.

The Vikings are just the most recent team to tweak their primary logo, as the Jacksonville Jaguars pulled a similar move last week. The Jaguars unveiled a new logo featuring a rougher looking jaguar that stands as the logo and has a sleeker design with more realistic spots. The change isn't a complete overhaul and it there are additional designs with the teams teal-color scheme, including on the ears, eyes and nose.
The team hadn't changed their logo since coming into the league as an expansion team and is trying to invigorate a fan base as the team prepares to play four home games in London over the next four years.
The Golden State Warriors also put out a new home alternate jersey. The new designs have the retro logo for the Warriors and have the yellow that is part of the scheme for the franchise. The jersey has a while stripe down the side and features the players number on the front and back. The new designs were made by Adidas and offers players' better movement and breathing as well as ventilation. It has recycled materials in it and also has a "ClimaCool ventilation system" to help players breathe.
