Oscar Pistorius had an emotional day in court after being charged with premeditated murder of his girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp, in his South Africa home.

Pistorius and his family put out a statement disputing the charges, saying that "The alleged murder is disputed in the strongest terms," and "our thoughts and prayers today should be for Reeva and her family-regardless of the circumstances of this terrible, terrible tragedy."

News reports first came out that the Olympic runner shot his girlfriend after mistaking her for a burglar, but the police threw water on that notion soon after. More reports came out that police and security personnel were at the house two hours prior to the murder after neighbors called in a disturbance.

Friday also brought reports on the death of Steenkamp, as it was written that she was shot four times through a bathroom door. According to national broadsheet Beeld, the police were at the house responding to a call after neighbors complained about a loud argument between Pistorius and Steenkamp. Further reports came out that Steenkamp was shot four times through the bathroom door, which would possibly put Pistroius's story of a possible robbery in question.

A bail hearing will come up next week and until then Pistorius will be behind bars. The story went global soon after it happened and made many front pages all around the world, including in far reaching places like New York, Australia, Canada, Namibia and many more.
