The Super Bowl is one of the biggest events of the year in America and it has the security to prove it, but that did not stop two Georgia college students from sneaking into the big game without tickets.
According to Yahoo.com, Beyonce's half-time performance was the perfect distraction for the two, who said they were able to drop in through a loading dock during the show. The two took a video and said that they hoped their experience would help Superdome personnel with security improvements.
"Everyone was watching Beyonce," said Joseph Roberts to Reuters. He is 32 and an English major at Savannah State University in Georgia and an aspiring screenwriter.
The report says that the two, Roberts, along with Malachi Youngblood, 24, were planning on going, but did not have tickets to the game, since many were in the $1,000 range. Instead, they decided to go around New Orleans and Bourbon Street with cameras on their foreheads and when they reached the Superdome, they arrived at a loading dock during the halftime show.
The spectacle was so big and so much attention was on it because of Beyonce's previous inaugural address fiasco, that there was not much security. At first the two were stopped by an officer asking for credentials, and when they said they didn't have any they simply went off to another spot.
They found the loading dock and were able to get in to see the performance with the rest of the crowd.
"We were just astounded by the situation," Youngblood told Reuters in a telephone interview.
After staying for a bit the two left and walked out the front.
"We were nervous. We were scared," Roberts said.
After posting the video the two decided to take it down as to not bring bad attention to their school, but they said they hoped security could be improved with their help.
"If something needs to be addressed, we hope this video can spark the dialogue," said Roberts. "The only way we can help is through telling our story."
