AC Milan will go as the massive underdogs but will still be hopeful of getting a good result in the first leg of the last 16 Champions League tie against Barcelona at the San Siro.

Barca are again the overwhelming favorites to win the Champions League this season, although Bayern Munich might give them a run for their money seeing the way they played against Arsenal at the Emirates.

Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri insisted his side have a very good chance to knock out the Spanish league leaders.

"Milan will definitely play a good game," he told reporters. "It annoys me that we are already considered as a sacrificial victim. Unless the regulations change before Wednesday, we will start at 0-0 and my team must be convinced they can get through -- otherwise there is no point turning up.

"Over the past two years we have played a few good games against Barcelona. They are the best team in the world and we must try to lay the groundwork for our progress in the tie. We have to limit their time on the ball because in attack they have great players. However, they could concede ground at the back so we need to play with the belief we can go through.

"Messi is a player who can make a difference, likewise Iniesta, one of the best creators in the world. Obviously we must look at ways of limiting their effectiveness. We must be calm."

Jordi Roura will again take charge of Barcelona, with Tito Vilanova recovering from throat surgery, and the Barca assistant coach believes the tie is far from a foregone conclusion.

"This season Milan are different from previous years," Roura said. "To come and play here is a pleasure, in a great stadium and in a fantastic atmosphere. Milan continue to be one of the most prestigious teams in Europe and obviously there is worry about this.

"It makes no sense to talk about favourites. I don't agree with those who say that Barcelona will definitely win. Milan are one of the most successful teams in Europe and San Siro is always a difficult stadium to play in. The atmosphere of the Champions League is fantastic and we are looking forward to this match.

"I haven't decided on the lineup. We've conceded a few goals in recent games, but we have also scored quite a lot. However, we have worked to correct our mistakes."

Barcelona will be without Adriano and David Villa, although Xavi has been passed fit. Milan have Giampaolo Pazzini fit for the big game, while Stephan El Shaarawy is also expected to shake off a knee problem.
