With the NBA trade deadline just hours away, the Los Angeles Lakers are looking to free up roster spots and acquire some second round draft picks, according to Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski.
Wojnarowski reports that the Lakers are willing to give up Steve Blake, Chris Duhon, Devin Ebanks, Darius Morris for 2nd-rounders, a way to load up on young talent and also save some cap space moving forward.
All indications show that the Lakers have no interest in moving any of their star players and all signs point to the team keeping center Dwight Howard past the deadline. The Lakers view Howard as a cornerstone for the franchise's future and the belief is that Howard will decide to sign long term once the season ends and he becomes a free agent over the summer.
Los Angeles does have a plethora of guards on the team and the front office does not see much value in having so many of them on the roster. Even though it will be hard to deal all of the players on the trading block, the Lakers will do whatever it takes to put the team on the right path in the final half of the season.
