Philadelphia Eagles Trade Rumors: Nick Foles Deal To Kansas City Possible As Team Scouts EJ Manuel and Geno Smith at NFL Scouting Combine

The Philadelphia Eagles are the only team in the league with a head coach that has no NFL experience, but that might actually serve Chip Kelly and the team very well, as he will bring a unique perspective as teams start scouting players at the NFL combine in Indianapolis.

Kelly has played against and coached many of the players at the combine and the Eagles will be able to use that to scout out all the players they would like to target come draft day. One of the prime positions for the team to scout will be at quarterback, as many of the top players at the combine include Geno Smith, Mike Glennon and Tyler Wilson.

The Eagles currently have a glut of quarterbacks after resigning Michael Vick and bringing in Dennis Dixon with Nick Foles already on the roster as well. The fact that Kelly runs a high-powered offense with running quarterbacks likely means that Foles is the odd man out of the situation, as he does not have the mobility of the others. That is also the major reason why he is likely to be traded.

Kelly likes to run an offense where the quarterback actually runs and Foles does not fit that mold at all. One place where he could fit though is with the Kansas City Chiefs and his former head coach Andy Reid. When Reid was with Philadelphia he drafted Foles to be the quarterback of the future, but now that he is gone, he could try to snag Foles again.

If the Chiefs trade for Foles, that would enable them to take Luke Joeckel with number one overall pick instead of spending it on a quarterback like Geno Smith, who is a good player, but not the same type of prospect Andrew Luck was last season. The Chiefs need a new quarterback after dealing with weak play from Brady Quinn and Matt Cassel last season and Foles could be the pick.

Kelly likes to run with his quarterbacks and during his years at Oregon when he was most successful, his quarterbacks ran the ball over 100 times. Foles can't fit that and Vick might not be able to handle all that either, as he ran 62 times last season and still had to miss five games. Cam Newton and Robert Griffin III ran it over 100 times, but Griffin ended up getting inured.

If the Eagles decide to trade Foles, that means they will likely look at Geno Smith, Mike Glennon and EJ Manuel at the scouting combine. Glennon has ability out of the pocket, but Smith and Manuel are interesting for Kelly because of their speed. Manuel proved to be a more accurate passer last season at Florida State and he could be a nice fit in Kelly's offense.

The Eagles will need some insurance at quarterback with Vick coming off an injury and Dixon being unproven as a starter and one of the top quarterbacks at the combine could be an excellent choice if the team decided to get rid of Foles.
