Tim Tebow Congratulates UFC 157 Fighter Brendan Schaub On Twitter, New York Jets To Trade Quarterback At NFL Scouting Combine?

Tim Tebow is still a backup quarterback on the New York Jets and although that could change by the time the league year starts in March, that hasn't kept him from watching other sports, including the big UFC event on Saturday night with Ronda Rousey and Liz Carmouche.

According to  Fightline.com, Tebow watched the fight on Saturday night or at least got news about it, as he wrote on Twitter to his friend and fighter Brendan Schaub, congratulating him on defeating Lavar Johnson in one of the main preliminary fights that was televised on FX.

Tebow wrote on Twitter: "Congrats @BrendanSchaub! So proud of you! All of your hard work & dedication paid off! Love you bro!"

Schaub entered the fight after losing two straight matches and used his natural wrestling skills to pull the victory. The fighter and quarterback Tim Tebow became friendly when Tebow was with the Denver Broncos in 2011, when he led the team to the playoffs and a postseason win against the Pittsburgh Steelers in overtime.

Schaub was the underdog in the fight since Johnson was entering the match with 15 of his 17 wins coming by knockout or TKO, but he took him down to win the match. Schaub improved to 9-3 after the match, while Johnson fell to 17-7. Schaub's UFC record improved to 5-3, while Johnson is now 2-2.

Schaub was able to take advantage with a takedown in the first round and stayed up despite some heavy hitting from Johnson.

Tebow had an unproductive season with the Jets and he has been the subject of trade talks, although the team has yet to find any takers. He rushed for over 100 yards while appearing in 73 plays and he also completed six of eight passes. He scored zero touchdowns while also serving as a punt protector on special teams.
