Reggie Bush to the Detroit Lions could become a reality? It's no mystery the Miami Dolphins aren't interested in having Bush around and the Lions could use all the help they need at the running back position. Here's why Bush makes sense for the Lions.
When given the opportunity to play every day in Miami, Bush took charge and put up the best numbers of his career. In the past two seasons, Bush has rushed for over 2,000 yards while scoring 12 touchdowns.
Okay, so the Lions have a great passing game. Bush also fits this part of the offense averaging 294 receiving yards in his two years with the Dolphins. Back in 2006, when he first broke into the NFL, though his rushing yards were down, Bush proved his hands could get the job done catching a total of 742 yards. Over his seven-year career, Bush has totaled 2,730 yards and 15 receiving touchdowns.
Now, because the Lions have such a dangerous passing game, adding a rushing game would make them almost completely unstoppable. A weak running game was an issue they saw blow up in their face in 2012. While their passing game was second in the NFL averaging almost 308 yards every week, their running game only went for 100 yards per game, which ranked them 23rd in the league.
Bush could improve their running game and at least give them a more average attack. Having a running game will only make Calvin Johnson and Matt Stafford a more lethal combo on the passing game since their offense will be balanced.
With Mike Leshoure, who rushed for 798 yards and nine touchdowns, and Bush, the Lions could have a double-headed running game. A rushing game will mean a more efficient offensive game in general.
The Lions could use the help especially since they finished their past season on an eight-game losing streak. Just when they looked ready to possibly make a run at first place in the NFC North at 4-4, the Lions couldn't win a game. The finished the year 4-12.
