Liverpool Transfer News: Rodgers Confident of Suarez Stay; Reds to Make Summer Move for Bony?

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has absolutely no doubts about the fact that Luis Suarez will still be a Red next season, while the Anfield side have received a boost in their bid to sign Ivory Coast forward Wilfried Bony.

Suarez has been widely tipped to leave the club in the summer after interest from Bayern Munich surfaced. The situation was enhanced further when the Liverpool striker himself was quoted as saying he would consider a move to the German giants.

However, despite those reports and the fact that Liverpool are unlikely to qualify for the Champions League next season, Rodgers is confident of keeping the 25-year-old at Anfield after having a positive conversation with his agent.

"There's no getting away from it, Luis has been brilliant this year, but I haven't seen anything different that would make me feel he wouldn't be here," Rodgers told reporters.

"I had a great conversation with his agent a couple of weeks ago. He came in and rolled it out that he was so happy here and he was keen over the next couple of years for the club to progress.

"I've made him sort of my architect within the group. Him and I communicate a lot so I get a feeling. It's not like I don't talk to him.

"Is he deserving of that Champions League level? Of course he is, but I would be confident enough that he will be here because he is enjoying his football.

"He's playing well, he's doing really well. Hopefully we continue to keep a great player like that. Luis has been phenomenal, and that's not just the opinion of his manager.

"His desire is to see Liverpool progress and that's why he (extended his contract) last summer. I don't feel, or see, anything different that would change my mind.

"This is a club that he loves. He is enjoying working this way. If we can keep supporting him and getting the team moving forward, then he seems happy and content."

Meanwhile, a striker who would be on his way to Liverpool is Bony of Vitesse Arnhem, after the 24-year-old failed to secure a move to Russia before the transfer window shut earlier this week.

"No club in Russia came to us with an offer, so Wilfried will finish the season at Vitesse," interim director Erwin Kasakowski told Dutch newspaper AD.

Bony was linked with moves to Liverpool, Chelsea and West Ham in the January window as well as last summer, and has been tipped for bigger things in the future after scoring plenty of goals in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Liverpool could now reignite their interest in the powerful forward if Rodgers chooses to strengthen his forward line in the summer, but are expected to face competition from West Ham.
