Mar 06, 2013 12:53 PM EST

The Dominican Republic us getting ready to face the New York Yankees as they continue to warm up for the World Baseball Classic. The game starts a 1 p.m. ET and you can catch the live action right here for those who want to watch the game online.

Jose Reyes, Miguel Tejada, Edwin Encarnacion, Robinson Cano and Hanley Ramirez combined for 16 of the Dominicans' 28 hits on Tuesday as they crushed the Philadelphia Phillies 15-2. If this is the way the Dominicans are going to treat the competition, then just give them the WBC crown right now.

They will face a Yankee team fresh off a night-time 2-0 loss to the Atlanta Braves. Now, the Yankees will be without first baseman Mark Teixeira as he's set to recover from an injured right forearm. Now the Yankees have to find somebody to play first base until he recovers and Joe Torre is accepting applications for anybody interested in playing first base for Team USA in the WBC.

It's another example of how old the Yankees are getting. They need some youth in their everyday lineup, but their prospects are still not ready to play in the major leagues. With Robinson Cano tearing the cover of the baseball, if he can carry them into the postseason with all these ailing stars in New York, he might truly be the MVP of 2013. Cano as increased his bid for league MVP every season. The highest he's ever finished is in third place back in 2010 with 229 points.

However, New York will see Cano wearing a different uniform in this exhibition game and if they don't pay Cano after the 2013 season, seeing him in a different jersey may become a permanent sight.
