Two Asian countries battle it out as Chinese Taipei faces Japan Friday at 5 a.m. ET/7 p.m Local Time in Tokyo. Check out the live stream provided for this matchup as both teams square off in their first games of the second round at the 2013 World Baseball Classic.
Despite Japan's high ranking (3rd overall) internationally, both countries went 2-1 in the first round at the WBC. Chinese Taipei's only loss came at the hands of Korea in the last game of the round robin. Due to their offensive stats, they were able to beat out Korea in the standings as they too were 2-1.
Chinese Taipei defeated the Netherlands and Australia in the first round of the tournament. Meanwhile, Japan defeated Brazil and China before losing the last game of the round robin to the Cubans who lost Thursday to the Netherlands.
On the mound for both teams, Japan will have Atsushi Nohmi. He's a left-handed 34-year old veteran. On the mound of Chinese Taipei will be Chien-Meing Wang who had a brilliant outing in his first WBC game where he faced and defeated Australia. He was extremely efficient going six innings, allowing four hits, no earned runs and striking out two.
Nohmi, has yet to pitch in the tournament.
