The USA plays Italy at 9 p.m. ET as the World Baseball Classic continues featuring Pool D action to wrap up the day's games. The USA needs this game and they will rely on Ryan Vogelsong to keep their WBC championship hopes alive. Just like that, after a loss to the Mexicans on Friday night, the U.S. is in danger of being eliminated. There's no time to build momentum, no time to work on things, USA has to perform or else they will lose to Italy who has defeated Mexico and Canada in the WBC.
They destroyed Canada 14-4, while relying on faulty Mexican defense to come back and win it in the ninth inning. They have the chance to surprise many and remove this powerhouse from its thrown as Team USA is ranked second in baseball.
On the mound for Italy will be 23-year-old Luca Panerati. He will be in charge of securing Italy's chances of securely winning the pool. From the looks of it, they will be in the second round regardless.
According to predictions, Italy has a chance to put this one away. The U.S. players haven't really been playing and though they possess all the talent in the world, Italy has momentum and a lot of coaches and players would rather be with a team that's red hot than a team that's talented.
