Watch Venezuela vs. Spain in the 2013 World Baseball Classic at 12:30 p.m. ET. one of these two teams can at least say they won a game after this one is all said and done. Check out the live stream provided at the end of the article as both nations play their last WBC games.
For Venezuela it has been a tough week. They lose a controversial leader and now their team, considered a powerhouse in the competition, isn't able to get it right as they were eliminated from contention after just two games.
They had the unfortunate chance of playing against the red hot Dominican Republic squad that simply put the away early 9-3 in the first game of the WBC. Then on Saturday, Puerto Rico proved relentless holding on to a slim lead throughout the game and then putting the game out of reach late to win 6-3.
Now, Venezuela can at least play for one win, but with their all-star MLB packed lineup, it's a heartbreaker without a doubt.
As far as Spain is concerned, this is a great step for the future of their international participation in baseball. Though they didn't advance further into the playoffs, Spain at least has placed its foot on the door for future baseball tournaments. Winning today would be small and meaningful for the what baseball could become in this country.
