The 2013 World Baseball Classic features a very pivotal matchup as the U.S. and Canada both can advance to the second round. However, both teams will have to play for it as they face off at 4 p.m. ET. Check out the live stream provided at the end of the article so you too can enjoy the action.
It will be Derek Holland against Jameson Tailon as both of these hurlers take the mound for Team USA and Canada respectively.
For those who are wondering why Holland's name sounds familiar is because he's one of the young talented arms in the Texas Rangers' starting rotation. He's been under the big lights, so he understands what's on the line today.
As for Taillon, well, he's really young. He's only 21 years old and it will be interesting to see if the Pittsburgh Pirates prospect can get his country the win today against a U.S. team that had its bats awake against the formerly undefeated Italians.
It was David Wright who gave the U.S. the lead with a monster blast to left field with the bases loaded. Team USA put up a five-spot on the board and never looked back. With Saturday's victory, they remained alive in the standings and today they can clinch a spot in the second round.
As for Canada, well, their way of staying alive was pretty interesting. They couldn't escape the game without having an altercation with Team Mexico. In total, seven players were ejected, but there were no suspensions allowing Canada's team to remain intact.
