Tim Tebow may not have been the starter in New York this past season, but that has not kept him from being one of the most popular athletes in the world, as evidenced by his nomination as one of the favorite male athletes at the upcoming Nickelodeon's Kids Choice Awards.
According to the NY Daily News, Tebow has been nominated for the award along with a number of high-profile athletes, including NBA superstar LeBron James, Olympian Michael Phelps and snowboarder Shaun White. The awards will be held later in March on the 23rd and Tebow could sneak in for the win over James or Phelps if the pre-teens vote for him.
Phelps had an unbelievable year at the Olympics in London, winning six medals and he also took home AP male athlete of the year over James. White participated in the X Games and James has been on fire all year since winning his first championship, as he took home a gold medal and now has the Heat on a record winning streak.
Tebow has made news throughout the year for his possible trade, as well as his appearances at controversial churches. He cancelled an appearance at a Dallas church after the media outcry became too great and he later appeared at the evangelical Liberty University, which was founded by Jerry Falwell, who blamed 9/11 on homosexuals and other sinners.
Tebow was a media lighting rod in New York and he gained 102 rushing yards while completing six of eight passes and serving as a punt ptotector.
