Georgetown Hoyas advanced to the Big East 2013 semifinals after easily defeating the Cincinnati Bearcats 62-43 in the quarterfinals of the tournament Thursday afternoon. With a big game from Otto Porter Jr., the Hoyas are step closer to claiming the Big East title.
Porter Jr. went a perfect 11-11 from the free throw, though struggling from the floor shooting just 3-9. He finished with 18 points for a game-high. He received a lot of help from the bench as D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera went 5-11 from the floor (2-4 from three) and finished with 13 points in the game.
The Bearcats' defense was pretty decent picking up a total of five blocks, but they made five more turnovers than the Hoyas finishing with a total of 14. They shot poorly from the field sinking just under 37 perfect of their shots. However, the Hoyas bench, which was made up of Smith-Rivera and Moses Ayeqba out performed five players from the Bearcats bench.
In total, the Bearcats tallied eight rebounds, one steal, one assist and scored just seven points. Smith-Rivera and Ayeba totaled 12 rebounds, two assists, one steal and all 13 points were scored by Smith-Rivera.
The Bearcats' Cashmere Wright had a great game from three shooting 4-5, but his 14 points were not enough to compete against the Hoyas' team today.
