NFL Free Agent Rumors: Elvis Dumervil, Brent Grimes, Ed Reed, Charles Woodson, Dwight Freeney and Nnamdi Asomugha Best Available

Mar 19, 2013 10:09 AM EDT

The NFL free agency period is in full swing and after a host of big-name signings and splashes, things have settled a bit, leaving a number of veteran players available for teams to look at and bring in for next season.

The Miami Dolphins made the biggest moves during the first week of free agency, bringing in Dannell Ellerbe, Phillip Wheeler, Mike Wallace and Jared Cook while also losing Reggie Bush, Sean Smith and Jake Long as well as Kevin Burnett. The team looks to be the most improved along with the Chiefs, who re-signed Dwayne Bowe, franchised Branden Albert and traded for Alex Smith.

The Browns and Buccaneers made big signings with Paul Kruger and Dashon Goldson, while the Vikings signed former Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings to a deal. The Broncos took Wes Welker from the Patriots, while New England took Danny Amendola in response from the Rams, who then signed Jake Long from the Dolphins.

The New York Giants made measured moves, signing tight end Brandon Myers, lineman Cullen Jenkins as well as Josh Brown and Louis Murphy. The Jets have been quiet, while the Seahawks traded for Percy Harvin and signed Cliff Avril, making them possibly the most improved team in the league.

Here is a look at some of the best free agents still left out there:

Andre Smith, O-Line

Smith was one of the best linemen for the Bengals over the past two years, but they don't want to over pay him. Since it has been some time and teams haven't been banging on his door, he will likely return.

Brent Grimes, CB

Grimes is one of the most intriguing free agents left, as he is coming off a serious injury. He was one of the most consistent corners for the Falcons and made the Pro Bowl in the past. He is a good cover corner with speed and can get his hands on the ball.

Charles Woodson, S

Despite being injured last season, Woodson is a valuable addition for any team as he brings experience and veteran leadership. He has had interest from the 49ers, Giants and Patriots.

Ed Reed, S

He helped the Ravens win the Super Bowl and is one of the best defensive players of all time. He met with Houston and left without a contract. He could be one player the Ravens actually keep after losing Ellerbe, Kruger and Anquan Boldin.

Fred Davis, TE

Also coming off of an injury, but he also could be valuable for teams looking for a solid tight end, including the Raiders and Titans.

Dwight Freeney, DE

Although his numbers have slipped with the Colts, Freeney could still be a force on the line. The Broncos and Patriots have shown interest.
