Tim Tebow can make headlines wherever he goes and he did just that on Thursday, as he was in Dallas at the SMU campus working out, sending the media and the Internet into a frenzy.

According to ESPN.com and the Dallas News, Tebow was in the area staying at the Omni Hotel downtown in Dallas and later met up with his former Florida teammate David Nelson. The report says that the two called SMU and their staff to see if they could work out while in the area.

While at the facility, former player Marquise Frazier tweeted out a picture with the quarterback and got the media buzzing about what Tebow was doing in Dallas. The report said that Tebow and Nelson threw the ball with each other and also worked out in the weight room before the quarterback flew home.

Tebow has been the subject of trade speculation all season and the most recent headlines have pointed that the Jets may cut or release the quarterback if they can't find a trade partner. The Jacksonville Jaguars appeared to be a choice at the beginning of the offseason, but that was quickly put to rest by their general manager.

Other options include the Arizona Cardinals and the Buffalo Bills after both teams released their starting quarterbacks in Kevin Kolb and Ryan Fitzpatrick, but the Cardinals already brought in Drew Stanton, who appears to have the starting job for new head coach Bruce Arians. The Cleveland Browns could be an option since new owner Jimmy Haslam wants competition for Brandon Weeden, but it is unlikely the Browns will want to part with draft picks.

The Oakland Raiders could be a wild card option, as the team has been working on a restructured deal with Carson Palmer, but so far progress has been slow. The team could decide to trade him or release him and that could open up a chance for the team to get Tebow, as he could compete with Terrelle Pryor for the starting job.

Thursday also happened to mark the one-year anniversary of the trade for Tebow from the Broncos to the Jets, which was for draft picks and was a surprise to many fans. Tebow brought headlines along with him and was barely used by the team, rushing for just 102 yards and passing for 39 yards while completing six of eight passes with zero touchdowns.

The Jets went just 6-10 and were awful on the field with Mark Sanchez, ranking 30th in the league in passing yards per game with just 180. The team ended the season with three straight losses and suffered a number of embarrassing defeats, including to the Patriots 49-19. Would Jerry Jones be crazy enough to pull off the trade? Probably not, but if Tony Romo's contract extension starts to take longer than expected, the Cowboys could make a move.
