The Duke Blue Devils have been one of the best teams in the country this season and they advanced into the third round of the tournament after defeating Albany and now will face off against Creighton on Sunday night for a chance to advance to the Sweet 16.
Mason Plumlee will be the focus on defense for Creighton and this would be the first time the Blue Devils have made it past the first weekend since 2010 when they won the national championship. The seventh seeded Bluejays can score behind Doug McDermott, who was an All-American last season. He scored 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in Creighton's game against Cincinnati and he will be the focal point for Duke on defense.
Duke has a number of players that can score, including Plumlee, Seth Curry and Rasheed Sulaimon as well as Quinn Cook and Ryan Kelly, who gave the team a boost when he came back from injury. McDermott leads the team in scoring and rebounding, while Plumlee does the same with Duke.
"McDermott is such a beautiful player," Krzyzewksi said. "He's really one of the best offensive players I've seen in the last decade in college basketball."
Duke went 28-5 this season, including 14-4 in the ACC while scoring nearly 80 points per game, ranking sixth in the nation. The team was just 213th in rebounding, but ranked 17th in field goal percentage with over 47 percent shooting. The team ranked 57th in assists and won three of its last four games apart from a loss in the ACC tournament to rival Maryland.
Creighton went 28-7, including 13-5 in the MVC, while ranking 24th in scoring with 75 points per game and first in shooting with a .508 field goal percentage. The team ranked fifth in assists and 142nd in rebounding with over 35 per game.
Prediction: Duke gets taken down in an upset, but it's close.
