Chicago Cubs vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Live Blog: Score, Play-by-Play and Updates of Opening Day Meeting

Score: Cubs 3-0 Pirates in Top of 7th

The Pittsburgh Pirates host the Chicago Cubs in their Opening Day meeting at 1:35 p.m. ET. Not everybody can watch the game, so check out the scoring  updates and play-by-play brought to you by MLB Gameday.

The Pirates believe they have done the adequate moves to make them competitive or at least keep them above .500 for the first time in a while. The Pirates have Wandy Rodriguez and A.J. Burnett at the top of their pitching rotation. If Rodriguez pitches the way he did in the World Baseball Classic, then the Pirates have one hell of a pitcher in their rotation.

Another good sign for the Pirates is that Russell Martin will try to lead this pitching staff. He's done a solid job everywhere he's gone so far in his career and will look to make a difference in Pittsburgh.

For the Cubs, it's their second season with their new general manager, Theo Epstein. He's trying to build this team around the young guys in their organization. They have one of the better hitting shortstops in Starlin Castro, while Anthony Rizzo is set to make some noise in the 2013 season. There are a lot of expectations surrounding this guy ever since he was a coveted prospect in the San Diego Pardres' organization.

On the mound for both teams, Burnett will take the ball for the Pirates, while the Cubs will have Jeff Samardzija on the mound.
