The Chicago White Sox host the young Kansas City Royals at 2:10 p.m. ET as MLB's Opening Week continues. Check out the lineups and matchups as both teams square off in an A.L. The White Sox are coming off a 1-0 victory on Opening Day as Chris Sale shut down the Kansas City offense. The Royals had seven hits, but they couldn't get anything but singles. James Shield pitch great baseball allowing just one run in 6 IP. The big hit came from Tyler Flowers, a solo home run that gave Sales enough to work with.
On the mound today, the White Sox will have the revived Jake Peavy. He was a workhorse for Chicago in 2012 though posting an 11-12 record, but he had a 3.37 ERA and pitched four complete games. Not bad for a pitcher many thought was done after his tenure with the San Diego Padres back in the late 2000's.
As the Royals continue to search for young pitching, Ervin Santana will look to be an example for the organization's hurlers as he's set to take the mound in his first start of 2013. He's coming off a 9-13 season with a horrific 5.16 ERA. The Royals are hoping these numbers can improve as Santana is their No. 2 starter, at least for now.
