Victor Ortiz Calls Out Floyd Mayweather For A Rematch, Says He'll Do The Fight For Free (Video)

It's been nearly a year since boxer Victor Cruz stepped in a ring, but recently the boxer has made comments of making his return sometime soon.

"I called everyone from 147 to 154 out," Ortiz said in a recent appearance on ESPN's Sportsnation. "There is one bout in particular I'd like out there."

Ortiz wants a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Ortiz is still dealing with the sting of his painful defeat he suffered against Mayweahter on September 11, 2011, saying that he can't accept the way things ended.

"He's a great fighter and all that, no doubt. I was never content with the way things turned out."

He's referring to his 4th round knockout loss to Mayweather that he and his camp protested, insisting he was the victim of a sucker punch. That loss marked the first of several consecutive losses to follow.

"I will never agree with that loss of mine," Ortiz said. "I think if we went 12 rounds it would have been a different outcome. But I bring up Floyd because he's getting ready to take on Robert 'The Ghost' Guerrero.

"I'd like to take on the winner of that fight."

The welterweight bout between Mayweather and Guerrero takes place on May 4 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, the same venue that played host to Ortiz' lost to the unbeaten Mayweather.

Ortiz later admitted his real preference is a rematch with Mayweather, and not Guerrero.

"I want Floyd," Ortiz said. "It would be free too, I don't even need the money."

Today, Ortiz participates in a dance program on television, something that has kept him in touch with people.
