Michelle Wie was once considered a prodigy, but after some comments in Golf Magazine from Annika Sorenstam about her talent, the young golfer accepted an apology from the Hall of Famer.

According to the Associated Press, Wie said that Sorenstam spoke to her after the comments came out an apologized. Sorenstam was asked about Wie in a question-and-answer story for the magazine and said that her talent was not there and that maybe one reason for her struggles was due to playing in men's tournaments and not concentrating on the women's tour.

The 23-year-old was a former prodigy, but she hasn't played well for years since winning the Canadian Women's Open in 2010 and she has missed three cuts this season before hitting an even-par 72 on Thursday at Mission Hills

"She actually reached out to me last night, said a couple of things got misquoted," Wie said Thursday after her first round in the Kraft Nabisco Championship. "I thought that was really nice of her to reach out to me. She apologized for what she said, and that's that."

The Hall of Fame golfer spoke about Wie and also said that she could make it back to being one of the best in the world. The LPGA tour has struggled to find stars in recent years and Sorenstam said one main reason could have been playing on the men's tour more often than she should have.

"She has a long way to go, let's put it that way," Sorenstam said. "There was a time when the LPGA really needed her. I thought she had a lot to bring to the table. Now she's one out of many."
