If you can't watch the game, check out the MLB Gameday for the live updates of this game with scoreboard, play-by-play with pitch-by-pitch, stats and lineups as the Yankees look to make it two games in a row. Let's see what we can expect from this game.
The Yankees are coming off a 4-2 victory over the Boston Red Sox winning their first game of the season behind the ageless Andy Pettitte. Today, the Yanks hope Ivan Nova can show some of the greatness from 2011 when he won 16 games. Backing him up, the Yankees' lineup looks as follows:
1. Gardner CF
2. Cano 2B
3. Youkilis 3B
4. Hafner DH
5. Boesch RF
6. Nuñez SS
7. Suzuki LF
8. Overbay 1B
9. Steward C
It will be Brennan Boesch's return to Detroit, the team that drafted him. The Yankees hope Cano can pick up the slack as he's opened up the young season with a .091 batting average. Youkilis and Nuñez are hitting .333 and .400 respectively.
For the Tigers, they continue hope Doug Fister can be the solid acquisition from Seattle that helped better their starting rotation. In 2012, Fister went an even 10-10 with a 3.45 ERA in 26 starts after battling through injuries.
Behind Fister, the Tigers will have the following players and hitters providing offense as the Tigers look to get back to .500:
1. Jackson CF
2. Hunter RF
3. Cabrera 3B
4. Fielder 1B
5. Martinez DH
6. Dirks LF
7. Peralta SS
8. Avila C
9. Infante 2B
