The No. 1 overall ranked team, Louisville, advanced to the finale proving they were worth the top seeding of the tournament. Rick Pitino coached like the veteran that he is and trusted his team, though they trailed by double digits late in the Final Four game against the Wichita St. Shockers. The Louisville Press proved to make a difference late in the game as they were able to battle back, forcing turnovers and making pivotal baskets.
With no Kevin Ware, the bench stepped up scoring 34 points, 20 of which were scored by Luke Hancock. The Final Four game was the most challenging for the Cardinals as they won by their smallest margin, four points in a 72-68 finale.
Michigan prevented a Big East showdown as they played clutch basketball late in their Final Four meeting against the Syracuse Orange. The Wolverines won 61-56 advancing to the National Championship game for the first time since 1993, 20 years ago. They were led by eventual NBA stars Jalen Rose and Chris Webber and now, in 2013, Michigan is led by the son of a former NBA star, Tim Hardaway Jr., who is obviously the son of Tim Hardaway. Hardaway Jr. scored 13 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished five assists in the victory over Syracuse this past Saturday.
This will be a battle of tough defensive teams. Who will be victorious? You'll have to tune in to watch and find out.
