Los Angeles Lakers Rumors: Metta World Peace Might Return By The Weekend?

Apr 08, 2013 12:17 PM EDT

The Los Angeles Lakers have currently fallen to the ninth seed of the Western Conference playoff picture and are in desperate need of correcting their mistakes before the season end on April 18th.

After being hit with a series of injuries throughout the season, they've received some good news recently in regards to injured forward and defense expert Metta World Peace.

World Peace was originally thought to miss the remainder of the regular season, but according to Kevin Ding of the Orange County Register, he is now almost fully recovered, having already started shooting drills.

World Peace was sidelined with a torn lateral meniscus against the Golden State Warriors on March 25. He underwent successful surgery on his left knee on March 28, with a timetable for recovery set at six weeks.

With the playoffs rapidly approaching the news of World Peace's return is crucial has the Lakers could face either the Oklahoma City Thunder or San Antonio Spurs in the first round should they make the eighth seed.

Now it seems that they'll have him back for Friday's game against the Golden State Warriors. But perhaps more realistically would be a return on April 14th against the San Antonio Spurs.

If that were to happen the Lakers would finally have somewhat of complete team for the first time since the start of the season.
