Chelsea Transfer News: Cavani is Extremely Overpriced, Says Boban; Mikel Tired of Boring Europa League

Former AC Milan midfielder Zvonimir Boban believes Chelsea and Manchester City target Edinson Cavani is extremely overpriced in the transfer market.

Cavani is one of the most coveted strikers in Europe currently, and Napoli have inserted a massive €63 million (£53 million, $81 million) release clause on the Uruguayan, which means the 26-year-old cannot leave for less than the amount.

Bona, though, believes the value is absurdly high, saying Cavani is probably worth only half that amount.

"Cavani is a great player," Boban told Radio Goal.

"However, I do not believe that he is worth £53 million on the transfer market.

"That's just my opinion, an honest one. Perhaps he's worth about half of that figure."

Meanwhile, John Obi Mikel has called for Chelsea to qualify for the Champions League, calling the Europa League "Thursday nights, Channel 5."

The Blues are currently third in the English Premier League table, but only two points ahead of fifth-placed Arsenal. Mikel wants to ensure his team seal a Champions League place for next season, because he is fed up with playing in Europe's second-tier competition.

"I think for us and the fans, Champions League football is what this club has always been involved in and that is what we as players want to achieve," he said. "We want to be in the top four, top three, whatever. We want to be in the Champions League next season.

"No disrespect to the Europa League but, when you saw that game on Thursday, it was a bit of a ... it's not ... when you get that buzz and you hear the Champions League song, it's different.

"We have been used to those special nights and we want to get them back. We want to be involved again in the Champions League next season. I don't even know the Europa League song. I have been here seven years and I have never played football on Thursday nights.

"It has been kind of frustrating to watch the Champions League. And we have to then play on Thursday night. What do they say? 'Thursday nights, Channel 5?' Hopefully next season we are not going to be in it. We are going to be prime time."
