The Detroit Tigers take on the struggling Toronto Blue Jays Wednesday afternoon in another matinee. Don't miss the live action for free online as the Tigers and Blue Jays will be presented on MLB.TV at no cost. First, let's look at the lineups and pitching matchups as both teams take the field.
The Blue Jays are on a streak... a losing streak. They are 2-5 in 2013 and have lost consecutive games thanks to a 7-3 pounding at the hands of these same Tigers. Miguel Cabrera went H.A.M. on the Blue Jays going 4-5 driving in four runs, three of which came via a home run. Torii Hunter reached a milestone connecting on his 2,000th career hit and apparently, Brandon Morrow couldn't get an out.
The Blue Jays will send Mark Buerhle to the hill as he will attempt to end this mini losing streak and get Toronto a game closer to .500. He had a rough outing in his first start of the year going 5.1 innings allowing six earned runs on seven hits. The Blue Jays will undoubtedly need a better outing if they expect to win this game.
On the mound for the Tigers will be another struggling hurler, Rick Porcello. They are currently trying to get this veteran 24-year-old to pitch his best baseball as they have anticipated great things to come for the past four seasons. Porcello is entering his fifth season in the majors and has only posted one season with a sub 4.00 ERA and this was during his rookie season. In his first start of the season, Porcello served up two home runs and three earned runs after just 5.1 innings pitched.
The Tigers will look to continue rolling and winning in the A.L. Central that is supposed to be theirs for the taking. Though it's extremely early, the Tigers are currently in third place looking up at the Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals. As for the Blue Jays, well, they're looking up at everybody in the A.L. East as their 2-5 start is the worst in the division so far in the season.
Enough babble.
