Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez will have to solve the left-back problem ahead of their Europa League quarterfinal second leg against Russian side Rubin Kazan.
The Blues hold a comfortable 3-1 advantage after the first leg, thanks largely to a brace from Fernando Torres. Benitez though has a few injury worries ahead of the game, with the left-back slot in particular posing a problem as both Ashley Cole and Ryan Bertrand are ruled out through injury.
Benitez will have to go with either the little-used Paulo Ferreira or youngster Nathan Ake, with David Luiz also an option.
"David Luiz has also played as a left full-back before so maybe he can be an option," the Spaniard said.
"I have an idea but we will train today (Wednesday), see how everything is, and after we will decide. I don't think it would be a big problem for Ake if he has to play there. He has played for us and trained with us."
Benitez, who will also have to do without Gary Cahill and Demba Ba, is not taking progress to the semifinals for granted despite the 3-1 advantage.
"We have a lot of respect for Rubin Kazan," he added. "We know they are a good team. For us to lose (players) is not ideal, we have to manage the situation and we have confidence we can go through.
"In terms of the game I think we know their team so they can do well, so maybe we have to react but I have confidence we can do well anyway. I don't see too many surprises.
"You have to play on a synthetic pitch and adapt to that but it will be the same for everyone."
Rubin coach Kerban Berdyev is hopeful of pulling off a shock result. "At this point Chelsea have an advantage, a good head start, but we will try to do everything to progress," Berdyev said. "Apart from (Yann) M'Vila and (Aleksei) Eremenko, all our players are in good shape and ready to play.
"There is no special need to motivate my players to play in the Europe League. The more matches we play at the Stadion Luzhniki, the more comfortable we feel here.
"We hope the fans from Kazan will come to support us tomorrow -- we also have fans in Moscow -- but Chelsea are Chelsea and we are ready to play them regardless."
