The Los Angeles Lakers grabbed a key victory in their road game against the Portland Trail Blazers Wednesday night, thus keep their playoff dreams intact as they keep sole possession of the eight seed in the Western Conference.
Though the victory went to the Lakers, the night went to Kobe Bryant after having one of his best games of the season recording 47 points, eight rebounds, five assists, four blocks and three steals.
"What he (Bryant) is doing is phenomenal. He's determined to get us in the playoffs," Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni said. "That's what happens when you open your mouth and guarantee that we'll get in the playoffs."
Bryant became the first player to record 47 points, eight rebounds, five assists, four blocks and three steals in an NBA game.
Despite having an incredible performance Bryant told ESPN that he will still give it his all for the Lakers to make the postseason.
"We've got no breathing room at all," Bryant said. "I'm still on edge. We've got to win three more games and we're in."
Bryant vowed in February that the Lakers would make the postseason. In order for that to come to reality they'll need to wrap up the regular season at home with games against playoff-bound Golden State, San Antonio and Houston.
The Lakers will be back in action on Friday night for a game against the Golden State Warriors.
