The Philadelphia Eagles are busy finalizing their draft plans and narrowing their options to a few top picks. With the No.4 overall selection, they will have their pick of almost every player in this year's class. The Eagles were scheduled to bring in the top rated cornerback Dee Milliner for a pre-draft visit, however they have canceled his visit in favor of focusing on different players.
Milliner is considered one of the best overall players in the draft. In many mock drafts he ranked No.1 after an impressive combine and pro day. Milliner ran a 4.37 40-yard dash, making him one of the fastest defensive players. He was part of a unit at Alabama that helped lead the nation in overall defense, winning the Crimson Tide back-to-back national championships.
Earlier in the offseason, the Eagles were in desperate need of a cornerback after the loss of Nnamdi Asomugha. However since then, they have signed free agents Cary Williams and Bradley Fletcher, no longer needing to take a cornerback with the first pick. Canceling Milliner's visit proves they are setting their focus on the likes of quarterback Geno Smith or defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd.
Smith has been on the Eagles radar for some time now, despite having Michael Vick and Nick Foles. He is the top-ranked quarterback, but both the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Oakland Raiders have shown interest and select ahead of Philadelphia. Floyd is the more logical choice for the team. He will likely still be on the draft board come time for the No.4 pick.
Milliner still has several options outside of the Eagles. Kansas City, Oakland and the Cleveland Browns have all heavily scouted the cornerback. Milliner himself has said that he believes any team that drafts him will become Super Bowl contenders and that he would love to play for Cleveland. Milliner's confidence comes with plenty of stats to back him up. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound player offers versatility and speed to the position. He is lock to be a top-10 pick, it is just a matter of which team lands him.
