Peyton Manning News: Broncos, Titans Favorites to Sign the QB?

Mar 14, 2012 07:50 PM EDT

The field vying for Peyton Manning's services has been narrowed to the Tennessee Titans and Denver Broncos, according to reports.

It has been a week since Manning was released by the Indianapolis Colts, the team he had dedicated 14 years of his career to. Within that time period, the four-time MVP has cut many team out of the equation of potential landing spots, the final field being the Miami Dolphins, Arizona Cardinals, Broncos and Titans as per the Denver Post.

The Post also reports that Manning met with the Broncos on Friday, the Cardinals on Sunday and the Dolphins on Monday. And, while the Titans are reported to be a favorite to sign the quarterback, a visit with Tennessee officials had been placed on hold Tuesday. Fox Sports reports that Manning will meet with Titans owner Bud Adams, coach Mike Munchak and several other club officials Wednesday at an undisclosed location.

Former Colts GM Bill Polian, who now works as an NFL analyst for ESPN, said on the air Tuesday evening that the Titans and Broncos are in a "dead heat" in the race for Manning. Many others, including Polian, favor Manning landing with an AFC team, so signing with either Denver or Tennessee doesn't seem like a forgone conclusion.

According to the Post, a decision by Manning is expected to be made soon, possibly as soon as Wednesday.
