Chelsea vs Manchester City Results: Benitez Wanted Penalty for Foul on Torres; Mancini Unhappy with Second Half Performance

Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez is convinced his side were denied a legitimate penalty, while Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini was not happy with his side's performance in the second half, after dominating the first, in a 2-1 F.A. Cup semifinal victory.

Samir Nasri and Sergio Aguero scored for City, before Demba Ba brought things back, as the game headed for a grandstand finish, with City just managing to do enough to book their place in the final against Wigan.

Fernando Torres, after coming on in the middle of the second half for the ineffective John Obi Mikel, made a nuisance of himself, playing his part in Ba's goal.

The Spaniard was also impeded by Vincent Kompany, who had already been booked, inside the box, with the City skipper seemingly tugging at Torres' shirt as he looked to break free to score. Referee Chris Foy, though, did not see anything wrong, and chose to wave play on.

"It is clear we played against a very good team and their goal early in the second half was very disappointing because we wanted to react," Benitez said.

"When Torres came onto the pitch we scored a goal quickly and the team had more determination and confidence and played much better when we had the ball, and we were on top of Man City until the end.

"I was disappointed we could not score another goal because we had one or two chances and also the penalty was not given which was clear, and could make a big difference. It could be a red card and a goal for us and it could change the game. The picture shows Torres's shirt up.

"Man City could have scored another goal in the first half maybe, and we could have scored one or two in the second half, and you have to give credit to them because they are a very good team but these decisions can make a big difference."

City manager Mancini, whose side will be now overwhelming favorites for the F.A. Cup, felt his side switched off after going 2-0 up. "I don't think it was one of our better performances of the season, after our second goal we played like it was finished," Mancini said. "When they scored it changed the game.

"We deserved to win this game but nothing is decided.

"In 90 minutes anything can happen, Wigan play good football and if we want to beat them and win the F.A. Cup we will have to play a very good game and prepare well."
