Explosions were heard at the Boston Marathon finish line on Monday shortly before 3 p.m. ET. This created chaos and led to the shutdown of the marathon's headquarters as a result, nobody was allowed to enter or exit the building.
According to reports, a few dozen people were injured from the explosions as thousands of runners were participating in the annual 26.2 race down the heart of Boston.
As help arrived at the scene, paramedics put the whole thing on hold. Hours before the bombs exploded, which both were detonated just minutes apart from each other, Etheopian Lelisa Desisa won the men's race. He is 23 years old.
Pete Abe of the Boston Globe, beat writer for the Boston Red Sox, reported the blast just minutes after it occurred and tweeted about the incident.
Currently, authorities are investigating the incident. According to RT.com, organizers consider the Boston Marathon "the world's oldest annual marathon and one of the world's most prestigious road races."
