The likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea have been put on alert after Napoli frontman Edinson Cavani admitted he could leave the Italian club at the end of the season.
Cavani is one of the most sought after strikers in Europe at the moment, with Man City thought to be the frontrunners for the Uruguayan's signature.
However, Arsenal and Chelsea have also been linked with the 26-year-old, who recently had a £60 million ($91 million) price tag slapped by Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
While City and Chelsea have the cash to spend that kind of amount on a player, and have done so in the past as well, Arsenal are seen as the outsiders among the three.
Cavani has always suggested he is happy at Napoli, but these latest comments suggest he might be considering a move away in the summer.
"I feel good at Napoli, but in football there are many things to be put in consideration," he said.
"I can only say I'll give the best for this jersey until the last day I'll wear it."
Yes, Arsene Wenger has quite a bit of money to spend in the summer, but splashing basically his entire budget on one player might be stretching it a little.
However, the Arsenal manager, who admitted his interest in Cavani in January, will also know that this Arsenal team is missing only two-three quality additions. An experienced goalkeeper, a defensive midfielder and a striker, who can consistently score you 25-30 goals a season is what Arsenal need.
Etienne Capoue and Victor Wanyama have reportedly been lined up by Wenger as defensive midfield targets, while the likes of Victor Valdes, Rene Adler, Asmir Begovic and Simon Mignolet are being considered in the goalkeeping department.
Arsenal will also have plenty of money for wages once the likes of Andrey Arshavin - one of the club's highest earners - and Sebastien Squilacci leave the club when their contracts expire at the end of the season.
The likes of Nicklas Bendtner, Park Chu-Young and Johan Djourou are also expected to be let go, leaving the Gunners with some decent space in the squad for next season.
Having said all that, though, bringing in Cavani is still very much unlikely. But then, stranger things have happened, and how many times have people quoted a player at one cost, and sold them for a lot less, even when they have had long-term deals?
