The Atlanta Braves go for their 11th consecutive victory against the Kansas City Royals Wednesday at noon as their game starts at 12:10 p.m. ET. Check out the live radio stream link at the bottom of the article, but let's look at the matchups.
On the mound for Atlanta seeking his third victory of the year is left-hander Mike Minor. He has been nothing short of remarkable posting a 2-0 record with a 0.69 ERA. Right now, only Paul Maholm is showing him up in the MLB. Minor has gone 13 innings of 10-hit baseball with 11 strikeouts and only one walk. Opponents are only batting .213 against him.
Opposing Minor and on the mound for the Royals is Wade Davis. He came along from Tampa Bay and has pitched decently in his first few games as a Royal. After being designated as a reliever for the Rays, Davis came on and struggled in his first start against the Philadelphia Phillies, receiving a no-decision after going four innings and allowing four runs. He roared back against the Minnesota Twins to win the game after throwing five scoreless innings.
Last night, it seemed like the Royals had the Braves where they wanted them. Jeff Francoeur seemed to slow down their moment after gunning out the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the sixth inning. However, the Braves traded in their tomahawks for the heavy lumber as they jacked three solo home runs and then stringed together a couple of hits to throw a four-spot on the board in the bottom of the eighth. Craig Kimbrel proceeded to handle the rest.
Juan Francisco proved valuable hitting two home runs in the game. The first one to open up the scoring and then second to tie the game at two.
