Gareth Bale will be back in the lineup when Tottenham host Manchester City in their crunch English Premier League clash Sunday.

Spurs are fighting tooth and nail for a top-four spot at the end of the season, and currently lie in fifth on 58 points. They are three behind third-placed Chelsea and two adrift of Arsenal.

Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas knows the importance of picking up three points at this stage of the season, and has therefore decided to include Bale in the squad, with the forward only returning to training two days ago.

"I am pretty confident (Bale will be fit)," Villas-Boas said.

"He's made good progress from the beginning of the week to be training with the team so I think he will definitely up for selection."

Jermain Defoe and Aaron Lennon could also make a return to the first team after overcoming their respective injuries.

"There has been a good recovery from Defoe so he's trained with the team all week," Villas-Boas added.

"Lennon has been recovering progressively. He hasn't trained with the team yet so there is one more training session to go. All of them are in with a chance of making the selection."

Villas-Boas believes not all the teams contending for a Champions League place will win all their remaining games.

"I definitely think not all of the teams will be able to get the most amount of points available, so it depends on when you get them and how it impacts on the league," Villas-Boas said.

"I think the commitment, desire and ambition towards reaching the top four has never been in doubt.

"We have made a couple of mistakes recently that made us concede some goals.

"We are trying to make sure we work on them and I think if the players are able to do that, and we are certainly here to help them, together we can achieve our results."

Manchester City are sweating on the fitness of Sergio Aguero, who is struggling with a hamstring problem, while David Silva could miss out again.
