Manchester United can clinch the English Premier League title with a victory over Aston Villa at Old Trafford Monday.
After Manchester City incredibly capitulated against Tottenham in their Premier League game Sunday, United now have the opportunity to win their 20th league title in front of their home fans.
The title will also be Sir Alex Ferguson 13th championship, ironically exactly 20 years after he won his first, and defender Patrice Evra believes United do not get enough credit for their achievements.
"The funny thing is because it is Manchester United people don't give us a lot of credit," he told the Press Association. "They just say 'oh, okay, they escaped, they came back.'
"If it is another team they say what great character they have, what a great team they are. Because it is Manchester United they just say we have escaped.
"We did not escape. This is character. This is personality. That is why we are here. That is why I hope we are going to win the title.
"You have to accept the criticism but I don't see anyone with more character than this team."
Aston Villa, though, will not make it easy for United, as they look to climb their way out of relegation trouble. Villa are currently three points clear of third from bottom Wigan.
"It's fantastic. Going up there to an arena like Old Trafford will be brilliant," Villa manager Paul Lambert said. "But you don't want to go up there and just make up the numbers.
"We'll go up there and try to win the game. We're up against probably the champions-elect. It's a great place to go and play. But we will go there and make a good game of it. It will be the same as we have always done. Nothing will change. We won't make any special plans.
"We know it's going to be a really tough game, with the players Man Utd gave got. They have a fabulous side, a team which is very, very good.
"But we are playing well enough to go and try to win games. This one will be exceptionally hard. But anything can happen on any given day in a one-off game. You have seen it a million times - teams not expecting to get anything end up winning."
