The MLB Standings are pretty interesting after three weeks of baseball. Some unlikely ball clubs are competing in some divisions, while pretty much the expected teams are struggling. Find out how this past week's action affected the MLB Standings as the first month of baseball is almost closing out.

The Atlanta Braves had everybody in baseball believing, then suddenly this weekend, though facing none contending teams, they slipped up going 2-4. Their offense wasn't all there while the pitching was sharp, for the most part. Just when the Braves looked like they were going to outslug the Pittsburgh Pirates, their bats went silent scoring only three runs in the next three games as they were nearly swept out of PNC Park. With the losing streak, the Braves are now 13-5, tied with the Colorado Rockies for the best record baseball and the two look to hook up for a three-game series at Coors Field.

Speaking of the Rockies, they are 1.5 games ahead of the San Francisco Giants in the N.L. West. The Giants are 12-7 so far in 2013 and as they're winners of three straight, they look geared to make a run at the top spot in the West.

Over in the American League, the Boston Red Sox were cruising, though they lost consecutive double-headers on Sunday to the Kansas City Royals, the first place Kansas City Royals! These first place teams are currently surprising many early on. For the Royals, it's a good sign as their young players could possibly have something to play for so far in 2013. The Royals have been waiting for their group to come around and this might be a sign of good things to come.

As for the Red Sox, they are doing it with a group of saavy veterans and with Big Papi, David Ortiz, back in the lineup, if Boston can remain healthy, they might be able to continue shocking fans around the baseball world. The Red Sox are 12-6 with a 1.5 game lead over the second place New York Yankees. The Royals are 10-7 with a game lead over the Minnesota Twins in the A.L. Central.

In the A.L. West, the Texas Rangers and Oakland A's are battling for the top spot. The Rangers won three games in a row as the Oakland Athletics met with a surging Tampa Bay Rays team and loss three straight. Only half a game divides these two teams in the A.L. West stadings. The Rangers are 12-6 and the A's are 12-7.
